We had an awesome time at the Live Oak on Saturday, and now we’ve got some photographic proof. Badass photographer AJ Potter was on hand, and she captured these fantastic shots of us up on stage and has graciously allowed us to share them with you. Check ‘em out, and check out her other work on her site.
Really excited about this one – this Saturday, we’re performing at the Live Oak Music Hall for the first time ever! The Live Oak is located on Lipscomb, just north of Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth’s Near Southside.
Besides being our first time at this swanky venue, we’re part of a great lineup of music for the night – besides us, you’ll also be getting ALAN, We the Sea Lions, and Katsük! Doors open at 8:00 and the show starts at 9:00. The show is ALL AGES – $10 for 21 & up, $15 under 21.
Can’t wait to hit the Live Oak – see you there!
Hey hey – we’re back in our hometown tonight, with a show at the Pour House in Fort Worth on West 7th Street! We’re playing tonight with Trailer Park Princess (which means we get to hang out with our original drummer, Jackie, once again!) and The Frisky Disco.
The fun starts at 9:00 with Trailer Park Princess, then us, then Frisky Disco. And best of all, there’s NO COVER! So c’mon out and have a good time with us! Here’s a Facebook event for RSVP-ing.
Doors open at 8:00, and we go on at 9:00. The show is all ages – $8 for those 21 & up, $10 for the under 21 set. This is our first Dallas show in a while, and we’re really excited to see y’all. Catch you tonight! Here’s a Facebook event for your RSVP-ing pleasure.
Jimmy Fowler from the Fort Worth Weekly caught up with Steph and did an awesome feature article about us, and it’s out in this week’s issue! Here’s a taste:
Some talented bands toil for years in obscurity, playing live shows and recording songs without so much as a nod from the press or the local scene. And then there are groups with relatively little experience who seem to suddenly appear with a precocious, original sound that’s fully formed, earning critical praise and a loyal fanbase right out of the gate. The Diabolical Machines fall into the latter category.
Big thanks to Jimmy and the Weekly for the love! Go give it a read!
Just a quick note to say that in honor of all the awesome new fans who have been following us online, we’ve made the Drag You Away EP a “name your own price” download on Bandcamp. You can even grab it for free, if you want!
Why have we done this? Well, we just want you to hear our music. And to quote Internet hero Jonathan Coulton:
“I give away music because I want to make music, and I can’t make music unless I make money, and I won’t make any money unless I get heard, and I won’t get heard unless I give away music.”
So head on over to our Bandcamp page to grab the Drag You Away EP for any price you want, including FREE. And share the hell out of it with your cool friends, and tell them to do the same.
We have a big, short-notice show this Sunday (7/21) at the famed Lola’s Saloon here in Fort Worth! We’re headlining, the awesomeness that is Panic Volcanic is the middle act, and the great SpiderFriends is opening (this is also their farewell show).
It’s our first time with both of these great bands, so let’s get out there and give everybody a big crowd! We’re even starting the show an hour earlier than usual, so you don’t have to be out too late on a Sunday. Doors are at 8:00, and SpiderFriends kicks off the fun at 9:00. It’s just $5 to get in ($9 if you’re under 21) and it’s all ages.
9:00 – SpiderFriends
10:00 – Panic Volcanic
11:00 – The Diabolical Machines
Well here’s a great treat – A Ft. Worth-O-Plex Music Page was kind enough to come to last Friday’s show at the Grotto and get a little video of us on stage!
The song above is a special treat for you, dear fans – it’s a NEW SONG! It’s called “Up To You” and we’ve begun incorporating it into our live set. We’re super proud of it, so give it a listen above! This showcases our tight new four-piece lineup, featuring Steph on guitar, Mandy on bass, Kevin on organ, and Aubrey on drums.
And here’s a classic – it’s “The Robber Barons of 7th Street,” which is the last track on the Drag You Away EP. Featuring, as on the EP, Kevin on the electric ukulele.
We’re making our first-ever radio appearance in California tonight, as we will be played on “The Next Big Thing” with host Marshall Stax on KALX, out of UC Berkeley. The show airs tonight from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Pacific time, making it 8:00 – 9:00 PM here in our Central time home.
Locals in CA can listen on 90.7 FM, and the rest of us can tune in at http://kalx.berkeley.edu.
Tonight is the night for Doug Funnie‘s Metal Gear Solid mixtape release, so that means you’re gonna want to be at The Grotto (on University just north of West 7th Street in Fort Worth) for our show! It’s us, plus Lindby, plus Bomb Atomic, plus Doug – and it’s cheap at just $5. C’mon and be there! Fun starts at 9:00 – that’s when we play to open the evening.
