Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards + Festival + Compilation CD!

Big news, fan folks!

  • We’ve been nominated for a Fort Worth Weekly Music Award!  The ballot comes out on the 15th, at which point we need all of you to vote for us!
  • As part of this nomination, we’re appearing on this year’s Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards compilation CD, along with several other nominated bands.  We recorded our song today at Eagle Audio Recording in the Near Southside, under the direction of engineer Britt Robisheaux of The Theater Fire.
  • AND, we’ve been asked to perform at the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards festival on Sunday, June 23rd!  The exact time & location will be announced later.

These are all big honors and we are very excited to be nominated for an award and asked to participate in all these various things.  Big things ahead!

As mentioned above, we recorded our song for the FW Weekly CD today at Eagle Audio.  Kevin took some photos of the whole thing (on a combination of an iPhone and a big camera), and we’d like to share ‘em with you:

Recording Our Debut Studio EP Next Month!

EP Concept - New

It’s been a long while in the planning, and it’s had to get over some delay and other issues, but we’re happy to announce that we’re headed to the studio to record our debut EP next month.  The EP will be recorded in Fort Worth’s Near Southside, and will be recorded & produced with vintage equipment by Britt Robisheaux of The Theater Fire/Drug Mountain/Most Efficient Women fame.

We’re really excited to finally be getting this done, and can’t wait for everybody to hear the results. We’re still working on finalized art and a title, so in the meantime please enjoy the design above, which will be used on some new stickers and buttons coming out in the not-too-distant future.

Meet the Stylophone

This is a Stylophone. It’s a miniature analog synthesizer invented in 1967 by Brian Jarvis. It’s played with an attached stylus on the metal keyboard. It has a…let’s say “unique” sound.

Various musicians and bands have used the Stylophone over the years – David Bowie, Kraftwerk, and They Might Be Giants are just a few notable Stylophone players. And now, so are we. Our next song features a Stylophone solo. How could we not use this awesome little thing?
